The following organisations can offer help with business finance.

A Start Up Loan is a government-backed personal loan for business purposes. Start Up Loans are available to individuals over the age of 18 who are eligible to start a business in the UK. Individuals can only receive one Start Up Loan, however more than one partner in a business can be eligible to apply for a loan. Loans are up to £25K.

Fredericks is a Responsible Finance Provider (RFP) and a charity that provides loans to people who want to set up a new business or maintain or expand an existing business. Fredericks is open to anyone who has a viable business proposition but cannot obtain mainstream finance.

Fredericks operates across most of England with dedicated client managers on hand to help and support applicants all the way through the process. The support continues even after the applicant has been successful in the form of mentoring, practical business advice, networking and links within the local community that can help support and grow new and expanding businesses.

If you are a student or past student of one of the five Berkshire Colleges, and are aged 18 to 23 you could be eligible to apply to this special loan fund supported by Thames Valley Berkshire LEP.

Start Up Berkshire is a business support and loan programme open to students and past students of Berkshire College of Agriculture, Bracknell and Wokingham College, East Berkshire College, Newbury College and Reading College. Applicants must be aged 17 to 23 when they apply (loans will not be disbursed to people until they are 18). The maximum loan will be £5,000 (the minimum £500) and loans will be charged at 0% APR.

Fredericks Foundation will administer your loan and provide help and advice to you and to your college to help you through the process. You should get in touch with your college to let them know you are applying. Fredericks Foundation will share all the details of your application with your college, but your details will not be passed to third parties who are not involved with providing help and support to your business.

The Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership has committed £7.3 million of capital to create a new funding escalator of loans and equity across three funding initiatives managed by The FSE Group. If you are an ambitious SME based in Berkshire with the potential to deliver high growth and employment opportunities, you may be eligible to apply.

The fund managers offer guidance and support during the application process and further help after the loan or investment is made. They aim to provide a speedy response to any enquiry.

The TVB Commercialisation Loan Scheme can provide up to £50,000 by way of a loan to start up/early stage SMEs that have generated some sales and require funding support to enhance market positioning and deliver a step change in growth.

This Loan Scheme can be used to match the South East Sustainability Loan Fund (SESLF) operated by FSE C.I.C. Businesses interested in this opportunity of matched funding should initially check the Fund’s Terms and Conditions.

The TVB Expansion Loan Scheme can provide up to £200,000 by way of a loan to established SME businesses requiring finance to implement expansion activities that will deliver substantial growth.

This Loan Scheme can be used to match the South East Sustainability Loan Fund (SESLF) operated by FSE C.I.C. Businesses interested in this opportunity of matched funding should initially check the Fund’s Terms and Conditions.

The TVB Trade Finance Loan Scheme can provide £50,000 to £200,000 loan funding to SME businesses with a short term trade funding requirement.

The Thames Valley Berkshire Growth Fund invests in high growth small and medium sized businesses and can provide up to £250,000 of equity. The investment must be matched by at least an equal amount of private investment, which the FSE Group can work with the company to source.
